There has been so much negative activity as a result of the activities of Trump, but there have been good things that have come of it. Let me give you a few.
There is a renewed interest in the Republic: what it is, what it means to us, and the need to protect it. Americans are concerned, engaged, and involved.
During the impeachment trials, we discovered Lieutenant Colonel Eugene Vindman, National Security Council, and Marie Yovanovitch, the American Ambassador to Ukraine. Both stood tall and testified despite the impact on their lives and careers. They spoke against a sitting US President. Can you imagine the pressure they were dealing with?
At the January 6 hearings, there was Cassidy Hutchinson, a young woman who rebuked her Trump-appointed lawyer, stood up in front of all of America, and told the world what she saw and heard regardless of the cost to herself. While the men around her failed to speak up, she spoke out.
Liz Cheney: Whether you agree with her political policies or not, you must agree this is a woman who showed the entire world what guts and character are all about. A leader of the GOP, she gave it all up to serve the nation, protect the Constitution, and honor her oath as a Congresswoman. She did what few of her colleagues would do: choose country over party.
Adam Kinzinger: The only man in the GOP to stand up for the country and serve on the Inquiry committee. While his male GOP counterparts hid behind the “Orange Jesus,” Kinzinger’s insight and conduct of the investigation helped open America’s eyes to the depths of a political conspiracy that threatened the very existence of the Republic.
Metropolitan Police Officers Daniel Hodges, Michael Fanone, and Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn all held the line at the Capital on January 6, while the insurrection raised. They did their duty while 100 of those protecting the Capital were injured, and nine others died. They did not run and hide.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger who rebuked a direct attack by Trump when he called him and said, “All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes.” Raffensperger, a GOP appointee, recorded the call, honored his duty and refused the request, then testified before the Committee for the world to hear.
Janet Griswald, Secretary of State of Colorado, and Jocelyn Benson, Secretary of State of Michigan, withstood the threats to their personal safety and the safety of their families to do the right thing, do their jobs, and certify the election. They did despite the cost.
E. Jean Carrol was attacked by the President of the United States, subjected to lies, her character destroyed on Twitter, but she refused to kowtow to the man with the power and beat him in a court--and David slew Goliath.
Two innocent election workers, Ruby Freeman, and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss, were falsely accused of committing election fraud by Trump allies for the sole purpose of reinforcing their Big Lie that the election was stolen. Their lives were turned upside down; they were hunted, harassed, and threatened, but they refused to retreat into darkness and hide. They fought against a horde of lawyers, testified, withstood media frenzy, and won.
From 1941 through 1945, Americans served to fight in World War II and became known as “America’s Greatest Generation.” Today, during the Trump years, those who stand and fought may become known as the “The Saving Generation.”
Benson, Carroll, Chaney, Dunn, Fanone, Freeman, Griswald, Hodges, Hutchinson, Kinzinger, Moss, Raffensperger, Vindman, and Yovanovitch all stood up. What about you?
Lest we forget.
This election is no longer about simple spending priorities; its about the future of the Republic.
The Office of the President of the United States is all about honor and integrity, and Donald Trump has none, and the rest is just crap. Thus ends the lesson.
