The Starfish Campaign
I am sure most of you have heard the tale of the starfish. If you have not, let me give you the short version.
An older man was walking on a pier at the beach. There had been a storm the night before, and he wanted to see how the beach withstood the wind and surf. He stopped at a spot overlooking the beach, leaned on the railing, and there he saw thousands of starfish stranded on the beach. They had been brought onshore by the storm at high tide, and the retreating tide and surf stranded them there where they would surely die.
As he was about to leave, he saw a young boy on the beach. He appeared to have picked up one starfish, taken it to the surf, released it, and returned the thousands of starfish where he repeated the task. The man, knowing this was a hopeless task, left the pier and went to the boy.
“What are you doing?” The man asked the boy.
“I’m saving the starfish that have been stranded here by the storm.”
The man, shaking his head, said, “Son, you cannot save all these starfish. The task is too big.”
The boy looked around at the thousands of starfish, then picked one up and turning back to the man. “But I can save this one.” And he walked to the sea and saved one starfish. The boy returned to the same place, picked up another, and looked pleasantly at the man. The man smiled at the boy. “You can’t save them all.” The man then bent down and picked up one starfish. “But I can save this one. And then they both went to the sea’s edge.
I am committed to not allowing Trump to win another term. I cannot change the minds of all those who, for whatever reason, cannot see that this twice impeached, four times indicted, convicted of sexual misconduct, convicted of fraud, with 90 plus felony counts pending, who wants to be a “dictator on day one” is not fit for office. There are too many for me to change their minds one by one. But like the starfish boy I can change the mind and heart of one at a time. I am taking up the challenge to turn one person away from the dark side. There is a man, a friend, a staunch Trumper, with whom I, and others, have coffee with each day. I am going to reach to him, find out his reasons for supporting Trump then I will find the data, the facts, to convince him that his is the wrong course. Then, like the starfish boy I would save one.
I am joining the starfish campaign. What will you do?
The Office of The President of the United States is all about honor and integrity, and Donald Trump has none, and the rest is just crap. Thus ends the lesson.
