He’s just like me.
I have been and continue to be fascinated by the support that Donald Trump has. What is it that his followers love about this guy? I believe he is everything that a President is not supposed to be. But I have heard all kinds of rational why they like him, some of which are just too out there to even fathom. I just heard, “He kept us out of any war while in office.” That one got me, as I guess the man forgot about Afghanistan, which is not unlikely since most people had forgotten about it, and the soldiers stuck there for twenty years. “He’s a businessman, and we need a businessman in charge.” The truth of that one is he inherited $400 million from his father and lost it all, took out major loans, failed to pay his debts and the workers he hired, and declared bankruptcy not once but three times. So, successful businessman? I think not. I particularly love the new one, “He’s the new Jesus.” OMG, now I did hear a GOP Congressman, when encouraged to sign onto electoral vote objection sheets respond, ‘The things we do for the Orange Jesus.’”
The one I hear most often is, “He’s just like me.” I get it. The old politicians are the establishment. They are mostly highly educated, many are lawyers, most have money, and they don’t talk like the “common man.” But just for a moment, let me ask you: Is he just like you?
Is he just like you, and do you insult women and sexually assault them—that is what Trump admits to on the Access Hollywood tape. And what he was convicted of in the E. Jean Carroll case, not once, but twice.
Is he just like you, and you believe that the military who die for their country are, as Trump says, “Suckers and Losers?”
Is he just like you, and you believe that he should be, as Trump has announced, “a dictator on day one.” Is that you?
Is he just like you, and you have sex with a porn star while married and then pay to cover it up? Is that you? If so, are you facing 34 counts of falsifying business records like Trump?
Is he just like you, and you, according to the New York State Supreme Court that $2.8 million donated to the Trump Foundation “was used for Mr. Trump’s political campaign and disbursed by Mr. Trump’s campaign staff, rather than by the Foundation, in violation of state law.” And did your charitable foundation, like the Trump Foundation, agree in late 2018 to dissolve and then agree to donate its remaining assets of $1.78 million — along with $2 million in damages to be paid by Trump — to eight reputable charities? Did you do that?
Is he just like you, and do you intend to let Putin and Russia, as Trump has announced, “…do whatever the hell they want’ to any NATO country that doesn’t pay enough.”
Is he just like you, and you believe that immigrants “(are) poisoning the blood of our country” and that you agree with Trump and the racist doctrines of Adolf Hitler, from which Trump’s quote comes?
Is he just like you, and you believe that those who rioted on January 6, who beat and killed the defenders of the Capital, who wanted to hang Mike Pence and stop the transfer of power, are Patriots and now are hostages? Even though they are convicted felons by the courts, all of which have juries made up of the fellow Americans?
Is he like you, and you believe that despite every State Election Official certifying the last election as fair, and despite all the 60 lawsuits brought by Trump stating voter fraud was defeated, and Trump has yet to provide any evidence that the election was rigged and stollen, that you still believe him and the Big Lie?
Is he just like you, and you stole national secrets, kept them in your bathroom, shared them with the Russian Ambassador, refused to give them back, hid them, had people lie about you having them, and then threatened those who reported that you have them? Have you done that?
Is he just like you, and you admire the autocrats of the world like Hungry’s Orban, Russia’s Putin, and North Korea’s Kim Jung-Un, and the oppressive rule of their people, like Trump does? After all, Trump says he “fell in love” with Kim Jung-Un.
Is this really you? Have you fallen in love with Kim Jun-un like Trump?
Is he just like you, and do you believe the former members of Trump’s staff who all have publicly said Trump is unfit for the Office of President of the United States, including VP Mike Pence, UN Advisor Nikki Haley, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, National Security Advisor John Bolton, Attorney General Bill Barr, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, Rex Tillerson, Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, Chief of Staff Gen John Kelly, Whitehouse Aide Cassidy Hutchinson, White House Communication Stephanie Grisham, Commander Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen Mark Milley, for Press Secretary Anthony Scaramucci, Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, and Director of Cyber Security Christopher Krebs. And do you agree with their comments on Trump? “Thin-skinned.” “Easily distracted.” “Fragile ego that cannot acknowledge reality.” “He endangered my family.” “(World leaders) think he is a laughing fool.” “The country cannot be a therapy session for a troubled man.” “Places our nation’s security at risk.” “the man is undisciplined.” “He failed at being President when we needed him to be that.” “A person who have nothing but contempt for our Democratic institutions, our constitution, and the rule of law, God help us.” “Clearly an irrational man.” “A domestic terrorist of the 21st century.” And “Donald Trump is not fit to be President.”
Does the above describe you?
What am I asking of you? I am asking you to hear what even his most loyal staff have said that Trump is unfit. I can understand those of you who don’t like the Democratic candidate, but maybe this time, just this time, you vote to save the Republic. And the next election, when the Republican party can recover from Trump and return to its values of small government, national security, and respect for the Constitution of the United States you can vote them in. But just not this time.
The Office of the Presidency of the United States is all about honor and integrity; Donald Trump has none, and the rest is just crap. Thus ends the lesson.
